Social Security & Veterans Law
How much does it cost for the first appointment?
There is no fee for the initial consultation. We speak with you first on the telephone, and sometimes at that point, we are able to direct you to your next step. If you let us know that you have an appeal deadline, we will try to help you understand your rights and responsibilities.
What services are offered at the initial consultation?
We will offer to review your recent letter or decision to determine your next step in the appeal process. We will discuss the issues in each of your pending claims, if this information is available. We will discuss the rules and regulations used to make decisions in your case. We will determine what needs to be done about filing your appeal. We will try to make suggestions about actions you can take to make your case stronger. Additional office appointments may be necessary. Additional services are offered on a case-by-case basis.
Do you offer any other services?
We try to. For example, a disabled veteran may also have a pending social security disability case. The disabilities may be the same in both cases, but the VA and the SSA use different medical rules to evaluate and decide claims. Sometimes, we are able to make a suggestion that will result in a favorable outcome for the veteran. We do not charge any fee for our suggestions. If necessary, we will consider whether we need to schedule a second office appointment to further evaluate your case or offer to represent you. Additional office appointments may be necessary. These services are offered on a case-by-case basis.
